Captain Wally's Fishing Report

Captain Wally's Fishing Report

Dec 08 report

Fishing slowed a little in the beginning of the month, but it picked up around the middle of the month.  We had some big sharks after Christmas.  There are a few kingfish and mahi mahi biting.  We haven't had any cold fronts, so the sailfish have not been around as much as the last couple of months.  There were some snapper and even a few grouper caught this month.  Well that's it for this month.  Hope to see you soon.

Nov 08 Report

The fishing has been pretty good all month.  The saifish have been here after every cold front, which have been moving through almost every week.  There have been some kingfish and mahi-mahi around.  There have also been a few amberjack on some of the artificial reefs.  We took one of our frequent customers out with some of his friends from Chicago and caught a Warsaw Grouper that weighed About 70 pounds.  We don't catch very many of them in a year, so it was a pretty impressive to see.  Well that's all for now.  Hope to see you soon.

October 08 report

The fishing has been pretty good this month.  There was a consistent kingfish bite for most of the month.  The Mahi have been everywhere from 100 of water on out.  We have had a few days with multiple shots at sailfish.  All in all it has been a pretty good month.

September 08 Report

Well, it's wasn't the best month as far as the weather went, but the fishing has been good when we have been able to get out.  There was a pretty good mahi bite for most of the second half of the month.  The kingfishing was consistent with a great bite the last week of the month.  The wrecks and artificial reefs have had some nice amberjacks and a few big barracuda.  There were also some sailfish and sharks around when the conditions were right.  The vermillion snapper have started to show up again.  The fishing was spotty at first but got more steady toward the end of the month.  October, when the cold fronts start moving through, is usually the start of sailfish season.  I,ll let you know what happens.

August 08 report

Well August is almost over and it's been another good month.  Mostly we have been catching a lot of kingfish and bonita.  Shark fishing has had it's up's and downs, but there is still a decent shot if you fish for them.  I have gotten some reports that the day and night time swordfish bite has started to get better.  Amberjack and Barracuda are around some of the wrecks.  While on the moves from one wreck to the other we have been pulling some high speed lures and have caught a couple of Wahoo as well.  The Mahi should be around soon, with the storms moving through the islands there should be plenty of debris offshore for them to hide under.  Well that's all for now, hope to see you soon.

Tropical Storm Fay has passed Fort Lauderdale August 21, 2008

Hi all visitors to SOUTH FLORIDA. Tropical Storm Fay has officially passed Fort Lauderdale and South Florida. We are open and ready for fishing. Since the storm the dolphin and sailfish are hungry and ready for the bite. We still see the sharks around and the snappers are biting close in shore. A TIGHT LINES CAPTAIN WALLY

July 08

Well you can really tell its summer now.  The kingfish and bonita have come in strong towards the end of this month.  There are still a few mahi-mahi around but not as consistent as last month.  The wreck fishing is getting better with some larger sized Amberjacks and even a grouper for the some of the luckier clients.  Shark fishing has slowed down but there have still been a few sailfish biting on the troll.  And last but not least the Vermillion snapper have finally started showing up again.  Fishing should stay pretty steady through August.  Let you know soon!

June 15, 2008

The mahi fishing has been pretty consistent so far this month.  We have had some days with a lot of schoolie size fish and some with a few larger fish but not as many schoolies.  The kingfish bite has gotten a lot better later is the month with out there being too many bonita.  There have also still been some sailfish around while trolling for everything else.  The hammerhead bite has slowed down some but the sandbars are starting to show up a little more.

May 23, 2008

There have been some big mahi-mahi around this month.  We have also been catching a few sailfish, kingfish, and bonita trolling outside of the reef.  Shark fishing has been producing some large hammerheads and the occasional sandbar shark as well.

A Special Tale

REEL WORK Sportfishing
March 10, 2008

I know I wrote a report yesterday, but this one is special. We took a good friend and his family fishing today for his bachelor party. We caught a Bonito, a big Spanish mackerel, and nine Kingfish. It worked out great because they are having a cook out for about thirty people. We would like to congratulate Tory and Trish on their marriage. Well that's all for now, hope to see you soon.
